What is Your Gratitude Score?

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” – 1st Timothy 6:6 (KJV)

Life can quietly steal our peace. An unexpected bill, health concerns, or uncertainty about tomorrow can set our minds racing. Away from gratitude! Yet the deeper struggle is often the belief that peace will come only when circumstances change. Paul, however, teaches that “…godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Contentment is not complacency or settling for less. It is the settled confidence that Christ is enough and that what He has provided is sufficient for today. Gratitude strengthens this confidence by directing our attention away from scarcity and towards God’s goodness. A gratitude journal (now popular on selling websites) can cultivate this discipline. As we thank God for every increase, appreciate our families, encourage friends, value our customers, and recognise our staff, our focus should shift from what is missing to what God is doing. Gratitude does not deny difficulty; it magnifies God’s faithfulness in the midst of it.

What is your “Gratitude Score?” Rate each statement from 1 to 5, where 1 means “disagree” and 5 means “agree.” Answer honestly – not to condemn yourself, but to see where God is inviting you to grow.

1 = Disagree | 5 = Agree

Take the Test:

  • I thank God for every increase, no matter how small. □
  • I save and invest more than I spend. □
  • I spend money on what glorifies God and serves His purposes. □
  • I regularly express appreciation to my family, friends, customers, and staff. □
  • When challenges arise, my first response is prayer and gratitude rather than worry and complaint. □

What does your score mean?

  • A score above 15 means your gratitude, stewardship, and trust are nurturing biblical contentment. Keep growing and encourage others.
  • A score below 15 indicates that your foundation is weaker and that there may be an area (s) that needs attention. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your growth and development.

This scorecard is an invitation to grow, not a verdict. Choose one low-scoring area and take one faithful step this week – pray, record three blessings, thank someone, or align a decision with God’s purpose.

Today, God invites you to treat gratitude as a lifestyle that honours Him as the giver of every good and perfect gift. Practice this daily.
